Based in Ridgefield, working in Oregon
Cascadia Power is based in Ridgefield, WA, and we serve Oregon. We don’t have a Portland office. We hold an Oregon electrical contractor license and an Oregon CCB license, and a Portland site visit starts with a drive down I-5 or I-205 and across the Columbia, so we plan the day around it.
The Oregon license numbers are listed in the footer of every page, and you can look any of them up with the state before you hire us.
What the work looks like in Portland-area homes
- Older houses in the close-in neighborhoods. Portland has a lot of homes from the early and mid 1900s. Smaller or full panels, older fuse boxes, two-prong outlets, and the occasional leftover knob-and-tube wiring are all common, and a panel upgrade is often the first step before a new circuit goes in.
- Newer homes in the suburbs. Across Beaverton, Hillsboro, Happy Valley, and Gresham the panels are usually in better shape, but a heat pump, a range, and a dryer can leave few open slots for an EV charger or a hot tub.
- Backyard cottages and detached shops. More Portland-area homeowners are adding a backyard unit, a garage studio, or a shop. Power to a second building means a longer run, often underground in conduit, and sometimes its own subpanel. We look at the route before we give you a number.
- Remodels while the walls are open. Kitchens, baths, and basements are the best time to add circuits and lighting. Our remodel guide explains what each room usually needs.
Commercial and industrial work
We also work on commercial and industrial projects. If you manage a building or a plant in the Portland area, tell us about the job and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a fit.
Power and permits in Oregon
Most of Portland is served by Portland General Electric, and Pacific Power serves parts of east Portland and other areas around the metro. When a job needs the power shut off at the meter or a change to the service, we coordinate with your utility.
Electrical permits in Oregon are issued by the local building department or by the state, depending on the address. Inside the City of Portland, for example, permits come through the city’s Bureau of Development Services. We check which one applies from your street address before the work is scheduled, then we purchase the permit for our work and schedule the inspection.
Hot tubs, EV chargers, and rebates
Both a hot tub and a Level 2 EV charger need a dedicated 240-volt circuit and a clear route from the panel, and the hot tub also needs a disconnect and GFCI protection. Our guides explain what a hot tub hookup involves and how to prepare for a home EV charger. Oregon utility and Energy Trust of Oregon programs change often, so our rebates guide covers where to look before you buy equipment.
Other electrical work
We also troubleshoot breakers that trip and outlets that stop working, install whole-home surge protectors at the panel, and add recessed, under-cabinet, and outdoor lighting. Adding a heat pump? Your HVAC contractor installs the unit, and we handle the dedicated circuit and outdoor disconnect.
