Home base is Ridgefield
Our shop is in Ridgefield, so a site visit here doesn’t start with a long drive. Homes around Ridgefield run from newer subdivisions to older houses and rural properties on larger lots, and the electrical work is different in each. Tell us which kind of house you have and what you want added, and we’ll come take a look.
What the work looks like on different Ridgefield properties
- A house in a newer subdivision. The panel may already have the open slots a hot tub or EV charger needs. If it does, the job can be as simple as a new dedicated circuit and a short run to where the equipment goes.
- An older house or farmhouse. Older panels are more likely to be full, hard to service, or short on capacity. Sometimes the right first step is a panel upgrade, and the new circuit follows.
- A larger lot with a detached shop or garage. Power to an outbuilding or a hot tub at the far end of the yard means a longer run, often underground in conduit. Distance changes the materials and the labor, which is why we look at the route before we give you a number.
- Anything outdoors. Winters here are wet. Disconnects, outlets, and chargers outside need equipment and wiring methods rated for wet locations.
Power and permits in Ridgefield
Electric service in Ridgefield comes from Clark Public Utilities, the customer-owned utility that serves all of Clark County. When a job needs the power shut off at the meter or a change to the service, we coordinate with them.
Ridgefield isn’t on the Washington Department of Labor & Industries list of cities that run their own electrical permits, so electrical permits and inspections here go through Washington L&I. When you hire us, we purchase the permit for the work we do and schedule the inspection, so it’s documented and signed off.
Hot tubs and EV chargers
These two are the most common reasons homeowners call an electrician for a new circuit. Both need a dedicated 240-volt circuit and a clear route from the panel to the equipment, and the hot tub also needs a disconnect and GFCI protection. Our guides cover what a hot tub hookup involves and how to prepare for a home EV charger.
Our rebates guide covers the details and the other Clark Public Utilities rebates.
